Noida, September 8, 2026: Former Delhi Chief Secretary and senior IAS officer Rakesh Mehta has died by suicide at his residence in Sector 82, Noida, police officials said. He was around 74–75 years old.
According to reports, Mehta was found dead inside his flat on September 6 after his family became concerned when they were unable to contact him. A purported suicide note was reportedly recovered from the residence. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

Rakesh Mehta was a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer who served as the Chief Secretary of Delhi from 2007 to 2010. His tenure was during the government of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
