New Delhi: Three men have been arrested following allegations that a 28-year-old woman from Nagaland was allegedly harassed and an attempt was made to pull her into a Mercedes at a five-star hotel parking area in Delhi’s Chanakyapuri, according to police and media reports.
The incident reportedly took place in the early hours of October 4, when the woman was at the hotel with friends. According to her complaint, she and a female friend were returning from the washroom at around 3:30 am when three men allegedly approached them near the parking area.
Woman Allegedly Pulled Towards Mercedes
The woman alleged that the men attempted to pull her towards a white Mercedes. When her male friends intervened, a confrontation reportedly followed.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly attacked the woman’s friends with hockey sticks and iron rods. One of the friends reportedly sustained injuries during the altercation.
The woman further alleged that the Mercedes did not have a visible number plate at the time of the incident and that the men appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
Three Suspects Arrested
Police reportedly began investigating the incident after receiving the woman’s complaint. Investigators examined CCTV footage and other available evidence to identify the vehicle and the people allegedly involved.
The three accused have been identified in reports as Divyanshu, Gaurav and Mohit. Police subsequently arrested the three men in connection with the case.
Investigators are examining CCTV footage, medical reports and statements from those present at the hotel to establish the exact sequence of events.
Investigation Underway
The allegations have attracted attention because the complainant is from Nagaland and the incident occurred in a prominent area of the national capital. However, police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, and any additional claims regarding motive or discrimination would need to be established through the investigation.
The accused remain entitled to due process, and allegations in the complaint should not be treated as proof of guilt until established by a court.
Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
