Cockroach Janta Party Holds Protest at Jantar Mantar, Demands “Equal Rights for Roaches”

In a bizarre yet amusing turn of events, the self-proclaimed “Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)” staged a protest at Delhi’s iconic Jantar Mantar on Friday, demanding an end to what they described as the “systematic oppression of cockroaches” in Indian households.

The protest, which quickly went viral on social media, featured participants dressed as giant cockroaches carrying banners with slogans such as “Every Kitchen is Our Birthright”, “Stop the Spray, Save the Roach”, and “No More Chemical Warfare Against Our Community.”

Why Are They Protesting?

According to party spokesperson Roach Kumar, cockroaches have been unfairly targeted for generations despite their contribution to urban ecosystems.

“We have survived dinosaurs, climate changes, and countless disasters. Yet humans continue to treat us as unwanted guests. We demand respect and representation,” he declared while addressing supporters.

The party’s manifesto includes several unusual demands:

  • Ban on anti-cockroach sprays and pesticides
  • Reservation for cockroaches in kitchens and bathrooms
  • Recognition of cockroaches as “urban survival experts”
  • Establishment of a National Cockroach Welfare Board
  • Free access to leftover food in all households

Public Reaction

The demonstration attracted curious onlookers and content creators, many of whom shared videos online. Some spectators found the event hilarious, while others praised it as a creative way to raise awareness about environmental issues and coexistence with nature.

Social media users flooded platforms with memes and jokes.

One user wrote:

“First mosquitoes wanted rights, now cockroaches have formed a political party. What’s next?”

Another commented:

“At least cockroaches are more united than some real political parties.”

Authorities Remain Calm

Delhi Police monitored the gathering but reported no disturbances. Organizers submitted a symbolic memorandum to authorities before peacefully ending the protest.

A Viral Sensation

Whether it was a genuine awareness campaign, performance art, or simply an elaborate social media stunt, the Cockroach Janta Party’s protest has succeeded in grabbing national attention.

As the crowd dispersed, one banner remained visible:

“You can kill a cockroach, but you cannot kill the movement.”
